Why I Love Cooking in Cast Iron

There’s just something about cooking in cast iron that I really like.

Maybe it’s because it feels old-fashioned in the best possible way.

A good cast-iron skillet isn’t fancy. It doesn’t need batteries, buttons, or an instruction manual. 😂 It’s just a heavy piece of iron that can turn out some really good food.

I’ve gone through my share of other pots and pans over the years. I’ve bought the ones that were supposed to be the next best thing, only to have the coating start peeling, the pan warp, or something else go wrong.

And before you know it, you’re buying another set of pans and spending more money all over again.

That’s one of the things I really appreciate about cast iron.

It doesn’t need to be replaced every time it gets a little worn.

It can actually get better with use.

I love that I can use mine on the stove, in the oven, on the grill, or even outside over a fire.

There’s something satisfying about taking care of a skillet and knowing that, if you take care of it, it’ll probably outlast you. You can cook in the same pan for years and years.

I also love the way food cooks in it. There’s just something about a meal cooked in cast iron that feels a little more like real cooking.

Maybe that’s why it fits so well with the kind of life I enjoy.

Simple food. Cooking outside. A little garden. Sitting on the porch. Maybe a fire going somewhere nearby.

Nothing fancy.

Just good food and enjoying the process.

And I’ll be sharing some of the things I cook in my cast iron, along with recipes, tips, and probably a few things I learn the hard way along the way. 😂

Because I’m definitely not an expert.

I’m just someone who really likes to cook.

Do you cook with cast iron? What’s your favorite thing to make in it?

Here Are Some of My Favorite Cast Iron Pans

A few people have asked me where I got my pans and what are my favorite so I’m listing them below. Some of these are affiliate links, Which means I may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at NO extra cost to you. I only list what I own and personally use.
